WESTERN REGION
Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) has had an excellent relationship with the local branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
since its inception. The enthusiasm, knowledge, commitment and positive approach
of all members of the branch are extraordinary. There is a wonderful dynamic between people from the public and private sectors as well as from multi-national corporations and indigenous enterprises, creating a great networking and learning environment for human resource practitioners in the West of Ireland.

The CIPD Western Region is a valuable networking resource for anyone who is involved in the field of human resource management in the west of Ireland. Through its professional delivery of high quality events on HR related matters, the CIPD Western Region affords practitioners and students alike an opportunity to meet and exchange views on a wide range of subjects.

Since returning to Ireland from the UK 5 years ago and having a HR background and a keen interest to develop in this area I proceeded to get my CIPD Qualification which in turn has given me great opportunities to further my career in HR through it’s enormous networking with people and businesses involved with the CIPD.
While attending college I was given the opportunity to take part in a Development Assignment role in a HR environment in Boston Scientific where I progressed in the role, and in time this further helped me in my new role as a HR Specialist working in MCS Advanced Engineering Solutions in Parkmore, Galway.  I have no doubt that without the CIPD and associated contacts I would not be where I am today.
